What is it?

Over the past few years, MRA has consistently heard that there is a need for opportunities for youth to learn water-safety strategies from various people. This pilot program was created to fill that need! Applicants from MRA communities can apply for funding support to promote water/ice safety knowledge sharing through collaborative intergenerational ice fishing events.

The COME FISH WITH US! project is a pilot funding program that aims to introduce youth ages 10-24 to traditional and modern safety practices for fishing and outdoor survival by participating in a hands-on fishing experience with a community-based knowledge keeper.

MRA will support applicants to host a multi-day event to promote diverse intergenerational knowledge sharing about traditional life skills and best practices to stay safe in and around water/ice. Applicants will also be encouraged to explore other knowledge-sharing opportunities about all things fish: nutrition, language, careers, conservation, literacy, waste reduction, etc.

Application deadline has closed.Thank you to everyone who applied.
